Journal 3: Prostitutes give police the slip with new tactics

Visit THE STAR!

The news was rather funny and hilarious to read! It's about how the local police was being fooled by the mere prostitutes as they failed a number of rush on the usual prostitutes spot. they claimed that the prostitutes are now nesting in a high cost living or known as "apartment and houses!" That all about the news actually. Now, this is what i called as "an outdated law enforcement!" simply irresistible not to laugh when reading this news. :)) why i pick this news? i mean it's not really hot news or controversial event or anything, but i still pick this news as the one that i wanted to make a reflections. Easy, i wanna do a reflection on PROSTITUTES! Did you get my idea? The big idea is... should prostitutes still here to stay? hmm...

I may be old fashioned but I thought, and still do that sex is an intimate and special thing that people give to one another when in a relationship. men and women who get their kit of for any body at any time lose respect for one another and from everybody else. especially if they are charging for the pleasure. It under mines are society and values and our ability to sustain relationships. This is a direct answer to the question and not about banning or regulating or making things safe I`m sure they will be around in another thousand years and anything to make it safer would be a good thing. I think it's awful that some women are having sex all day over and over again with strangers for money. In this day and age this inhuman profession should be stopped. Men would just have to satisfy themselves or have a proper relationship with a women. I don't believe any women out of choice would be a prostitute if given a decent education, decent job and decent housing. It's time we realized that prostitution is just cruel exploitation of women.

In the modern world, people don't really care what they do and how they do what they do in public thinking everything they've done is right. However, do you think they ever stop and ask themselves if they've violated a norm or not? Most of the time, they don't bother to. They would say that they have the freedom to speak their mouths off and the freedom to express themselves. Yes, that's right. Everybody have those freedoms, but that does not mean that you have the right to violate what normative way of how most people live their lives. Let's say, Prostitution, or imitation of the kind. Most girls today would walk around the streets with mini skirts, high heels, blouses that shows the shape of what's behind the cloth and cigarette thinking they're so cool and all that. In addition, those girls are not prostitutes, they just wanted to dress like prostitutes. These girls have violated the institutionalized norm. they should dress like that at home and not in the streets. Everyone of us have what we call a "Piece of mind", but sometimes we don't care to use it. Think again, the "Piece of mind" can keep your behind in front of the bars not behind bars.

But, a weak law enforcement also cause this prostitution to be growing each and everyday. not that i wanna blame the police to be the real "dalang" behind all this, it's just that nowadays police can't be trusted at all. As an example, the government had banned the usage of fireworks for the public. The authorities will "rampas" any fireworks that they find out being sold or kept. next thing you know, the child of the one who "rampas" that fireworks was the one who sell it and play it!! no offense, but that that's a plain truth about the so called law enforcer in our society! Sometimes it's difficult to differentiate between the bad guy and the good guy. It always turn out to be the other way around where people we thought bad was actually like an angel, and those we acknowledge as good people was a hell of a person. Now that's what i called a real life confusion!! What i wish and i think a lot of people out there would agree on me is.. A WORLD WITHOUT ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!! mmm.. my my... I'm really good at wishing things.. :) "stupidity is all what it takes to become a human beings!!"

Journal 2 (OPTION FOR 65 SMOKERS)

Visit THE STAR!

The news was actually about 65 people who were caught apprehended by the authorities for smoking in public. They were ask to pick whether to pay a RM500 fine or they can even try to reduce the amount of fine by going for counsellings. Again, a laughing stuff from the local newspaper. Come on, RM500 wont stop them from being a smoker or even a month of non stop counsellings can't promise a permanent fullstops from smoking!

One thing that really gets up my nose is inhaling other peoples' stale cigarette smoke against my will. It's about time to ban smoking in public places in this country and stamp smoking out once and for all. You know it makes sense! There is nothing worse than coming home from a restaurant or mamak stall after an evening out and finding that your clothes smell disgusting because they have been saturated with stench of smoke. I'm not the only one who is fed up of this, and I'm not some born again non-smoker, I just wish that I had a choice whether or not I came home smelling like a dirty ashtray. Another thing that I really hate is walking down the street behind someone smoking a cigarette. Every time they exhale out, here comes that cloud of stale smoke and bang, you walk straight into it and aside from crossing over to the other side of the street there is very little you can do about it. It is not a pleasant experience and it is one I could live quite happily without it. For sure!

I know there are a lot of people in this country that smoke and I'll be willing to bet that some that are reading this journal are fed up with people who don't smoke always harping on about their 'bad habit' and telling them what to do. The simple fact is though that smokers are affecting the health of non-smokers as well as their own. People die each year just because they have breathed other people’s smoke and that is something we really should be taking seriously. In my opinion an outright ban on smoking in public places is the only way forward. When this thing happens, finally a clean and fresh air for everybody! Hurray!! :P

Just think about it, everyday the vehicle that we drove produce a smoke from the burning petrol, the factory unleash it's dark and poisonous smoke, even sometimes the uninvited burning like the rain forest burnt, can cause a massive amount of smoke that eventually brought a serious catastrophe to the people. Now think again, if u want to smoke, you are actually adding the amount of smoke that basically we inhaled it for free everyday! Moreover, when u smoke, geez.. you are inhaling a poisonous smoke directly to your lungs and not just that, u pay to get that smoke into it! The right word for them is "stupidly unique!" Long term effects include: Lung cancer, emphasema(lung infection), heart disease, and ulcers. Short term effects include: coughing, shortness of breath, and premature signs of aging such as wrinkles. Those facts are not surprising, because when you smoke, you are inhaling over 2,000 known cancer-causing chemicals. Lung cancer is presently the number one killer in both men and women.

Finally, for the government, giving fine RM500 to these people, it wont make any difference at all. As for the hawkers that sell cigarettes at a kid under 18, don't know what to say, just hope that your own child one day would not buy cigarettes from other hawkers. People, lets together wish and hope for a clean a fresh air by banning smoking in public. These "stupidly unique" people are making our future full of smokes. Just wish for a spell to stop people from ever smoking...

BIAS

Based from an article By Eve Conant
in Newsweek "Tele- Tubbies"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17838488/site/newsweek/

  1. Tele-Tubbies (Bias Against. A definite bias. why tele-tubbies? what does it got to do with kids being obese? i mean, just because the character in teletubbies are kind of big or shall i said round in shape, but still it doesn't make any sense to involve it with the child obese. i assume that the author just want to create attention for people to read the article!)

  2. "There is just no question that children's diets are affected quite directly by marketing, especially TV marketing." (Bias Against. HoHo.. a direct blame towards the media it is!! as we can see here the author is actually writting a phrase that actually does not supported by any facts and it just for the sake of blaming the so called "TV")

FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE

Based from the story Flying Blind by Readers Digest!

  1. But the lead slug blew Plexiglas shards across the cockpit and into Spicer's face. (Metaphor because in the story the "lead slug" was actually a bullet came out from a gunshot. A bullet has shape like a slug and the bullet is made out of lead)
  2. The width of a sweatband: the distance between life and death.(Metaphor because the distance between life and death is measured like the width of a sweatband. A sweatband width usually only like 2 to 3 inches.)
  3. Spicer tried to find it; as everything blurred, he shoved it "to the wall" -- all the way in, pushing the plane to its limit. (Metaphor because it shows how he tried to pull the throttle as hard as he can that it is define as shove it to the wall.)

Facts or Opinion??

Visit NST(Suraya Al-Attas on Saturday: Our veterans deserve more respect)!

OPINION SENTENCE

  1. Had it not been for singer Zainal Abidin’s rant about the absurdity of pitting him against reality TV stars in a talent show called IKON Malaysia - touted as Asean’s biggest - the IKON Media Group, which is co-organising the contest with the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM), would have thought nothing of their "well-conceived"concept. (its an opinion of the writer upon the IKON thingy. and also because of the sentence "would have thought nothing of their "well-conceived"concept," shows that it was an thought of the writer)
  2. In theory, IKON Malaysia sounded like a good idea. (obviously the word "sounded" there shows it was an opinion)
  3. "In the West, artistes know their place in the industry. They recognise their idols. If, say, Bono (of U2), a huge name in the music world, competed for a Grammy with (Sir) Paul McCartney and won, he would probably be humbled because the former Beatle is a legend in the industry. (a definite opinion! not every western artist did like what the author claim it was. by the way the word "probably shows that it was an opinion)
  4. "In our industry, some young artistes-particularly those created by reality shows - who win awards actually think they are the best thing to happen to the industry. I didn’t think the music industry could sink any lower. Guess I was wrong." (for sure it is an opinion! Some young artistes do not think they are the best thing that happen in the industry but some are actually good. And the word 'think' indicates it is an opinion)
  5. While Zainal might have been a tad harsh in his criticism of the young stars (Mawi, who was at the media event, was said to have felt particularly slighted by his senior’s remark that insinuated he would win hands down because of his popularity), his anger was not without reason. (Some people may think that his anger is really without a reason. It is a questionable act)
FACTS SENTENCES
  1. Unlike other talent shows, this one would see established names in the industry vying for the title and subsequently compete at Asean level. (this one can be verify by the IKON Media Group)
  2. Although an official announcement has yet to be made, it is learned that the new system would see a panel of professional judges responsible for 70 per cent of the score, while 30 per cent would be from SMS voting. (basically everyone knows that this is a fact cause this is how the IKON Malaysia being judge and it was use during the competition)
  3. Another industry player said having established artistes compete with the reality stars meant only one thing. That the organisers have blatant disrespect for "older’ artistes who have paid their dues in the industry. (The industry player is obviously an expert in what he or she does so he or she knows about the happenings)
  4. Just check out the list of reality talent shows we’ve had since 2001: Girl, Are You Ready, Audition, Popstars, Who Will Win?, Akademi Fantasia, Mentor, Malaysian Idol, Project SuperStar, One In a Million, Rock Unite, and yes, even good old Bintang RTM. Heck, they could even throw in (radio station) THR’s Juara Popular winners. (It is verifiable where you can check it with the television companies)

Inference & Conclusion of Road Fatality

Visit road fatality!

OVERVIEW

Basically the declining of 8 percent in male motor vehicle crash is due to the safety functions that comes with the modern vehicle nowadays, while the total male motor vehicle deaths in 2005 which is 30,224 exceed female motor vehicle deaths which is 13,089. There are more men than women who die in motor vehicle deaths because they take more risks on the road like drinking while driving and not putting on their seat belt. To conclude, as long as the safety system in a vehicle is improving, death accident rate will definitely be declining.

AGE DIFFERENCES

Rates of passenger vehicle occupant deaths in 2005 were higher among males than females for all age group except the group from 0-15 years old. The difference in fatality rates between genders was greatest for occupants which is within the age of 20-24. The male community between the age of 20-24 had the highest fatality rate (3442), while the fatality rates were lowest for both genders from the age of 85 and above (487 of male and 386 of them are female). The solid reason why a lot of the death happens to be around late 20's is in this state, the driver is in the teenager period where a lot of depression of getting into adulthood is getting on. They tend to to be disturbed, mad and even distracted by the surrounding. that's the best reason why a lot of death accident occur among these age.

ALCOHOL INVOLVEMENT

The table of the estimated number and percent of fatally injured passenger vehicle driver with BAC since 1982 to 2005 shows that male drivers that were killed because of alcohol is declining. This is probably because the public are aware of the danger of drinking while driving. The highest death number of male drivers is 16744 (1988) and the highest death number of female drivers is 6681 (1997). On the other hand, female drivers who were killed because of alcohol also shows a decline as years goes by (1982-2005). Basically, in the female case, the declining of accident rates caused by alcohol is because women nowadays are more cautious upon their health, therefore, the usage of alcohol in their diet decreases.

Mat Rempit: We won’t stop!!

Lately our local newspaper are reporting news about so called Mat Rempit invading our nation highways and roads.Visit THE STAR! Based on the article, i have combine the summary and my reflection altogether in this..

Mat Rempit itself is a term given to them as ("illegal street racers"). I’m sure almost 99% of the public wanted to get them off the roads. This is no longer called as "sports" where they are not racing only but pulling dangerous stunts on the road.Mat Rempits are giving lame, yeah i really mean LAME excuses for example, the fees at current racing track expensive to them, tracks are too far from city, or even try to prove that they’re not society trash by saying some of them even HAD foreign degrees!! Oh..My..God..!! Is that a true thing or just another brag?Mat Rempit says clearly that they WONT STOP unless the government need to legitimize their "sports" and build tracks for them as what written in our local newspaper.

All the sudden we are suppose to bow to their demands of building an affordable race-track to do their thing?I suggest that these people stop dreaming about getting a race track, because if any money or finance is to be given out..It should be given to the poor and the handicapped or better yet, research to a disease. One mat rempit says that the existing tracks are inaccessible because they are not affordable enough, and as for organized races, the competition is too tough for them. So you have all the guts in world to perform your wheelies, your stoppies, your circus worthy acts but you do not have the guts to join and participate in an organized race? Why? Not enough of an adrenaline rush for you? I was just smiling and laughing when i read about this people's demand and reasons. Don't they know they are already endangering other people's life by racing illegally,on the streets?. Maybe there has been too much petrol fumes and wind that has entered into our mat rempit's head to cause them to think that its okay to race illegally and make unreasonable demands.(from what i heard the last time i studied biology, petrol causes brain damage)

Who are they to make demands? who are they to demand for a track to meet their needs? They are NOT a community of people which contribute benefits to the nation with their activities.Honestly, the bad mat rempits seem to outnumber the good ones. The government has tried to help these mad bunch of people, but it seems that they bite the hand that bites them. I say we have tolerated them enough and we should put an end to all of these. The suggestion of making them a tourist attraction is a joke, and it might end up being a tourist repellent. if only there is a spell to clear all this mat rempit..
